Memory Verse Idea -- The Muncher Mouth
Created by Tim and Lisa Deam
Review a number of previously memorized verses by writing the verse reference on individual slips of paper, rolling them up and inserting them into the memory verse “muncher mouth.” Place all the “muncher mouths” in a bag and then have individual children draw a “muncher mouth” from the bag. Unroll the paper and lead the group in reciting the verse.
Other ways of using the “muncher mouth”:

Review game: Roll up questions and insert them into the “muncher mouth.” Place them in a bag and allow the children to draw the questions when playing the review game.

Prizes: Put wrapped candy inside each “muncher mouth.” Place them in a bag and allow the children to draw a prize.
Determine the class schedule:
You may want to try this idea occasionally — to add variety to your class schedule. Write out the class activities on individual slips of paper, roll up each slip and place one in a “muncher mouth.” Put them in a bag and have the children take turns drawing a “muncher mouth.” Whatever is on the slip of paper will be the next activity that takes place.
Note: Don’t write “Bible lesson” on a slip of paper because you as the teacher can determine when to teach the Bible lesson.
Making the Muncher Mouth:
Materials needed: plastic canvas, yarn, large-eye needle, wiggle eyes, tacky glue
Cut out three 1 ½” canvas squares. Put two squares on top of each other and “whip-stitch” two sides together with the yarn.
(These two squares should look like the top of a pyramid after being stitched.)
“Whip-stitch” one angle (two sides) of the third square to one angle of the inner flap that has not yet been stitched. At this point, the middle square should be completely stitched so that when pinching the two corners of what will become the “mouth,” it will open. Finish the edges by pinching open the mouth and “whip-stitching” around the remaining un-finished edges. (Be sure not to completely stitch the mouth closed.) Glue the wiggle eyes to the first square.
